Aunty Genoa Keawe has been performing for a half century and a consummate professional musician. Sadly this "leo o Hawai'i" (voice of Hawai'i) came to an end last year. Happily, the rest of the ensemble continues and have been joined by the heir apparent, Pomai, her granddaughter.

The Genoa Keawe 'Ohana performs at the Marriot Waikiki Beach poolside overlooking Kalakaua Avenue on Thursdays from 5:30 pm to c. 9:30 pm. The MWB serves Hawaiian-style pupu (things to eat while drinking). Local people who like Hawaiian music often come by; other musicians and hula dancers are often called up from the audience. The drink and pupu prices are reasonable (drinks c. $4.00, pupu c. $6.00). No cover charge.

Fairly informal; shorts, aloha shirt, slippers are all OK. Retro black and piercings other than earlobes will earn doubletakes.
