We are travelling to USA from AUS in Oct this year. We are just planning our itinerary and will be in NY for approx 5 nights (will this be long enough to experience the city?)and need some advice on where to stay in New York. We are after something relatively central to most attractions (empire state, rockerfeller, top of the rock, statue of liberty etc)and are having trouble deciding in which district to stay, somewhere safe and central?

Any suggestions?
